It’s the final weekend of April, and to close off the month we’re rounding up some of the area’s newest spots to get your food and drink on — along with a mix of indoor and outdoor events to keep you busy till Monday.

The Rooftop at Exchange Place is downtown’s latest chic bar with sweeping views of New York and potent cocktails to match.

What: SubCulture
Where: 260 Newark Avenue
Go for the awesome retro decor, stay for the hearty subs. This BYOB spot is unlike any other in Jersey City. SubCulture specializes in subs, milkshakes, wraps, and all sorts of hearty comfort food. What: Dullboy
Where: 364 Grove Street
The moment you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. Dullboy’s spring cocktail menu is live with new libations like The Rosario and The Margaret — the latter of which is made with coffee concentrate from Modcup. Check out the full menu here.

Where: 335 Newark Avenue
If the weekend’s sunny forecast has you feeling tropical, you’ll went to head to Cellar 335, which just launched its new tiki cocktail menu.

What: Luna Jersey City
Where: 189 Brunswick (3rd Floor)
We know. Downtown has a lot of Italian restaurants. But Luna Jersey City is more than just an Italian restaurant. Their menu is a mix of dishes like cajun calamari, teriyaki lollipop wings, and of course — signature Italian dishes like cacio e pepe. We hear they also have a noteworthy wine and cocktail menu.

Things To Do

What: Monster Movie Weekend at Loew’s
When: Friday, April 27 from 7pm to 9pm
Where: 54 Journal Square
Catch the original 1954 Godzilla movie (in Japanese with English subtitles) at the Loew’s Theater tonight. Then comeback on Saturday for Kong-a-Thon — three back-to-back King Kong movies that start at 2:30pm.

What: Mother Earth Fundraiser at Harsimus Cemetery
When: Saturday, April 28 from 12pm to 7pm
Where: 435 Newark Avenue
The “Mother Earth Festival” is a fundraiser for the Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery. The family friendly event includes a full day of environmental exhibits, urban farming, live music, and of course — the chance to meet the cemetery’s baby goats. There will be on-site food vendors as well as a beer and wine bar. Admission is $7 for adults or $5 for kids/seniors. Proceeds will benefit the all-volunteer historic Cemetery Preservation Mission.

What: Roses & Rebels Grand Opening
When: Saturday, April 28 from 9pm to 3am
Where: 160 Newark Avenue (2nd Floor)
Roses & Rebels is a new tattoo studio located at 160 Newark Avenue. The studio is hosting a grand opening/open house from 9pm to 11pm where you’ll get to meet the artists, check out Roses & Rebels apparel, win swag from Gringo’s and Porta, and enjoy hors d’oeuvres and mocktails. At 11pm the party continues at neighboring Gringo’s.

In Bayonne

What: Bayonne Food Truck Festival
When: Saturday, April 28 from 12pm to 6pm
Where: 24th Street & Avenue E
The city of Bayonne is hosting its inaugural Food Truck Fest and everyone is invited. There will be over 20 food trucks, live music, activities for kids, and a beer/wine garden. Confirmed vendors include Koro Koro, Milk Sugar Love, House of Cupcakes, Pizza Vita, Incrediballs, Left Bank Burger, Mozzarepas, and more.
