What: Lady LiBeerTy Lager Release at Departed Soles
When: Friday, August 16 from 4pm
Where: 50 Bay Street
Local brewery Departed Soles is releasing a new draft this weekend. Lady LiBeerTy is an unfiltered American Golden Lager brewed with a touch of Maris Otter for added malt complexity. The beer comes in at 5.6% Alc./Vol. It’ll be available at the tasting room all weekend long.

Jersey City Ballroom Summer Splash

What: Jersey City Ballroom Summer Splash
When: Friday, August 16 from 7pm to 10pm
Where: 189 Brunswick Street (3rd Floor)
Put on your dancing shoes and head to the Jersey City Ballroom for its Summer Splash Dance Party. The party is open to beginners and experts alike. It’ll include group samba and hula classes as well as snacks and refreshments. Admission is $15/pp at the door.

From zeppoles to homemade peach wine, La Festa Italiana is one of our favorite Jersey City summer events. Expect plenty of food and live music throughout the weekend.

Surf City Lobster Paella

What: Surf City Lobster Palooza
When: through Sunday, August 25
Where: 1 Marin Boulevard
Surf City is celebrating our favorite crustacean during its Lobster Palooza Festival. The waterfront bar is offering 17 different lobster entrees including Lobster Tacos, Lobster Thermidor, Lobster Quesadilla, and Lobster Paella. There will also be whole lobster specials cooked Creole, Spanish, Mexican, or French style. The lobster party runs through Sunday, August 25.

What: Gringo’s Discoteca
When: Friday, August 16 from 7pm to 12am
Where: 12 Coles Street
Gringo’s Discoteca is a house music-infused disco party celebrating JC Pride. Admission is free and there will be prizes for the best disco outfit of the night.

What: Bike JC Light-Up Ride to the Bayonne Bridge
When: Friday, August 16 from 8pm to 11pm
Where: Pedestrian Plaza at Barrow Street (meeting spot)
Bike JC is organizing a casual bike ride to the Bayonne Bride and back. The slow, casual ride is meant for fun and to take in the nighttime views. Music and multiple bike lights are recommended for your bike.

Saturday Events

What: Bucket & Bay Gelato-Making Class for Kids
When: Saturday, August 17 from 11am to 12pm
Where: 150 Bay Street
Drop off the kids at Bucket & Bay for a children only gelato-making workshop. The 1-hour class will have kids (ages 6 to 14) making their own batch of gelato. Tickets are $24 per child.

Liberty Humane Society
Mariah Carey is looking for a home.

What: Liberty Humane Society Clear the Shelters
When: Saturday, August 17 from 11am to 4pm
Where: 235 Jersey City Boulevard
The LHS is participating in the nationwide Clear the Shelters event this Saturday. That means all adoption fees are waived on cats over 4 months old and dogs over 40 lbs. Check out the LHS’ website to see the pups and cats available for adoption, like Mariah Carey, Usain Bolt, and senior pup Nola.

What: 59th Annual Puerto Rican Parade & Festival
When: Saturday, August 17 & August 18th from 12pm to 10pm
Where: Columbus Drive from Marin Blvd. to Warren Street
From Puerto Rican eats to Puerto Rican music, Jersey City will get a touch of the Caribbean this weekend during the 59th Annual Puerto Rican Parade & Festival. The 2-day festival will take place on Columbus Drive from Marin to Warren. It’ll include food, music, a boxing match, and more. On Sunday, there will be a parade (12pm) that will start at Lincoln Park and march down to City Hall.

What: Ed & Mary’s Block Party
When: Saturday, August 17 from 12pm to 7pm
Where: 174 Coles Street
Neighborhood bar Ed & Mary’s is throwing their pup a 1-year birthday bash complete with live music, food trucks, corn hole, a pop-up dog park, and cocktails. Plus, you’ll get to meet the rescue dogs from Waggytail Rescue, all of which are looking for their forever homes.

JC Pride Crawl

What: 5th Annual Jersey City Pride Crawl
When: Saturday, August 17 from 4:30pm to 10:30pm
Where: Hard Grove at 284 First Street
Drink your way through some of downtown’s best bars during the 5th Annual JC Pride Crawl. Tickets are $10/pp and each bar crawl stop will include drink specials and special raffles. The crawl is a charity event benefiting the Hudson Pride Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Jersey City. Hudson Pride Center serves as advocate and social service provider for both the LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS communities in Hudson County.

What: Summer Fest 2019
When: Sunday, August 18 from 6pm to 8pm
Where: 1 Audrey Zapp Drive
The Summerfest Concert Series is a free event that takes place every Sunday and Tuesday evening at Liberty State Park. This Sunday, Winard Harper will take the stage playing jazz.
