Talde Jersey City

Four years after opening in what used to be a police precinct, Talde Jersey City has permanently closed its doors. The announcement came via an Instagram post which thanked Jersey City for an amazing 4-year run.

Talde Jersey City was operated by the Three Kings Restaurant Group. The group consisted of celebrity chef Dale Talde and partners David Massoni and John Bush. The trio debuted Talde Park Slope back in 2012. It was followed by a slew of other restaurants, including Talde Jersey City, which opened in February of 2014 according to the New York Times.

However, the Three Kings Restaurant Group dissolved at the start of the year and many of Talde’s restaurants followed suit. Talde Jersey City remained under the leadership of executive chef Ruby Felix, who had been with the Talde team since the early Carrino Provisions days. Felix worked her way up from line cook to executive chef at Talde Jersey City.

Along with her entire team — many of which had also been with Talde since its early days — they created a neighborhood restaurant that attracted locals and visitors alike. During its 4-year run, the restaurant hosted multiple kamayan nights, parties, and drag brunches. There were also numerous events held in the restaurant’s downstairs lounge, Miss Wong’s.

The Filipino-inspired menu included dishes like Beef Short Rib Kare Kare, Lobster Tom Kha (in the restaurant’s earlier days), and the vegetarian Angry Pancit. Desserts were equally fun with a Halo-Halo Cap ‘n Crunch and Talde’s 5G cookies.

As for Dale Talde, he and his wife Agnes Chung are now running a new restaurant group called Food Crush Hospitality. Talde’s new restaurant, Goosefeather, is currently in preview mode and located in Tarrytown, New York.

Back in Jersey City, it’s not known who will take over Talde’s spot. (Although we do know that The Boil is moving into the space next to Talde). Stay tuned as we learn more details.

  1. Had a great meal on my first visit to Talde several years ago, but was much less impressed with the food on my second try and so never returned. Cellar 335 is a better option for modern asian-american fusion in my opinion.

  2. This is a loss for the neighborhood! Talde was the best Asian fusion in town, a great place to take visitors, and their blue crab fried rice is one of my all time favorite dishes.
