The weekend is here and it finally feels like spring. Make the most of the next two days with our pick of the best events happening in and around Jersey City.

What: City Challenge Race Jersey City
When: Saturday, April 14 from 8am to 4pm
Where: Exchange Place
Now that the weather is finally war, it’s time to take your workouts outside. The City Challenge Race is an urban obstacle course that’ll have you zipping, sliding, and jumping over various obstacles and challenges throughout a 3-mile course. The course will feature real police and taxi cars for runners to jump over along with cargo nets, walls, and more. Online registration is closed, but you can opt for same-day registration (which is payable via $100 cash or check). After the race, participants can celebrate at Piggyback Bar with a free beer.

What: Junot Diaz at WORD
When: Saturday, April 14 from 10am to 11am
Where: 123 Newark Avenue
Pulitzer Prize winning author Junot Diaz will be at WORD Jersey City for a reading, book signing, and Q&A of his first children’s book — Islandborn. The book celebrates the country’s diversity.

What: Pacific Flea Season Opener
When: Saturday, April 14 from 11am to 5pm
Where: 149 Pacific Avenue
Pacific Flea is back for another season of curated antiques, jewelry, records, and more. Confirmed vendors so far include Bash & Pop Records, Antisocial Jewelry Company, and more.

What: Spring Festival at Harborside
When: Saturday, April 14 from 11am to 2pm
Where: Harborside Atrium
JC Families’ annual Spring Festival is back at Harborside bringing puppet shows, music, and multiple activities for the whole family. Admission is just $2/pp.

What: Reggae Dinner at Harry’s Daughter
When: Saturday, April 15 from 6pm to 9pm
Where: 339 Communipaw Avenue
If you missed last weekend’s performance, this Sunday you’ll have another chance to catch Rum Punch Mafia as they play reggae classics at Harry’s Daughter. The restaurant will also be open for brunch Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 5pm. (You can check out their brunch menu here).
