NYRR Newport 5K Newark AveAttention, JC runners! The NYRR Newport 5K is back. The 3.1-mile course will be held this coming Sunday (May 1) at 9am. All runners must show proof of full Covid vaccination (one dose of J&J or two doses of Moderna/Pfizer).

Back in May of 2019, the New York Road Runners — organizers of the TCS New York City Marathon — announced they were expanding their races and programs to New Jersey. The organization chose Jersey City for their first race, which at the time was called the Newport Fiesta 5K. Then the pandemic happened and most organized races were suspended.

On May 1, however, the NYRR Newport 5K will return to the streets of Jersey City. The 3.1-mile course is a mostly flat race that takes runners through the streets of Newport, Exchange Place, and Columbus Drive.

The NYRR encourages participants to pick up their race bib at the NYRR RunCenter at 320 West 57th Street in New York. (Check out their website for specific pickup dates). Alternatively, bibs can be picked up near the start of the race, but runners are asked to arrived up to 90 minutes before the start of the race to avoid any delays.
