Newport Eats Jersey City

Diner fans in Jersey City have a new spot to check out. Newport Eats is now open in the former Skylark on the Hudson space in Newport. The new diner is at 70 Town Square Place, just a few steps away from Frutta Bowls.

Like most diners, Newport Eats offers a wide range of food options. Their multi-page menu includes salads ($9.95 to $13.95), burgers ($7.95 to $12.95 w/o fries), and a range of lunch sandwiches and soups (all under $10).

There’s also an eclectic mix of entrees that includes a few items you wouldn’t think to find at a diner. Entrees include a seafood paella ($24.95), roast duck with fries ($19.95), and a “smoke house” section with smoked brisket ($19.95) and smoked babyback ribs ($17.95). You’ll also find a kids menu, a full selection of desserts, and a fully stocked bar.

Decor-wise, Newport Eats is pretty spacious with a large bar counter and multiple booths and tables. I never went to Skylark on the Hudson, so I can’t really say if they did much interior renovating, but I will say the interior looks nice and cozy without that bad neon lighting found in some diners.

Newport Eats is the latest restaurant to open in Newport joining the likes of Los Cuernos, Battello, Zinburger, and Ruth’s Chris. They’re currently in soft open mode and they don’t have a website yet. However, we were told they’ll be open this week. You can also give them a follow on Instagram for the latest updates.

In the meantime, here is their full menu below. (Apologies in advance for the poor lighting).

    • I wonder if this place is also owned by team who bought the skylark in Edison and Pines Creek? Since they kept the concept and text font
