Ling Long Xuan Interior

Journal Square has always been a great spot for quick, affordable food. (Hello, Morgan Fish Market). However, a new wave of restaurants has been raising the bar higher. There’s the NYT acclaimed Korai Kitchen, newly opened Cafe Peanut, and now you can add Chinese restaurant Ling Long Xuan to the list.

Ling Long Xuan opened back in May at 586 Newark Avenue (it’s sandwiched in between Cafe Peanut and the forthcoming Grubbs Take Away). It’s offering excellent Chinese food at very reasonable prices.

Its kitchen serves everything from a simple — but delicious — wonton soup to whole fish in chili sauce. The restaurant’s menu can be overwhelming (there are multiple pages of options), however, most entrees cost under $20 with just a few larger dishes coming in at $30. (The priciest dish we could find is a whole Peking duck at $39).

The restaurant is BYOB and offers dim sum, lunch, and dinner options. They’re open 7 days a week till 10pm (10:30pm Fridays through Sundays). Stay tuned for our First Impression.
