Churrasqueira Europa is back

Churrasqueira Europa Jersey CityChurrasqueira Europa is back. (Again!) The Portuguese restaurant quietly reopened in late August under new management. The restaurant originally closed in July of 2018 when its owners — Antonio and Mario Cordeiro — announced their retirement. The Cordeiros had operated the restaurant for 20 years.

Then in June of 2019, the restaurant reopened, but for a short period of time and shut down months later. This time we’re told they’re here to stay.

Churrasqueira Europa is famous for serving generously sized meals at budget friendly prices. Some of our favorite entrees include their seafood paella, mariscada, skirt steak, and grilled shrimp. Most dishes are priced well under $25 with only a few entrees hitting the $32 range.

Appetizers are likewise priced under $12. The list includes shrimp cocktail, steamed clams, mussels in tomato sauce, Portuguese pork sausage, and fried calamari, to name a few.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 guidelines, their lunch buffet is not available at the moment. They’re otherwise open 7 days a week and located at 542 Newark Avenue (just a few steps away from the Philippine Bread House). You can check out their menu and give them a follow on Instagram.
