From Project Market to a holiday carolers concert, get into the holiday spirit at our pick of the weekend’s best events.

What: Project Market
When: Saturday, December 1 & Sunday, December 2 from 11am till 6pm
Where: City Hall (behind City Hall)
Get your holiday shopping on at Project Market — a heated outdoor market highlighting local crafts, food, gifts, and small businesses. Vendors will include Busy Bee Organics, The Hair Room JC, Eemas Cuisine (their Spam Musubi and Lumpia pictured above), Thirsty Quaker, Hooked JC, and many more. Plus, there will be a video game truck with six HD screens where $10 will get you 15 minutes of gaming. Funds will benefit the Small Business Grant Fund, which supports businesses throughout the city.

What: Bottomless Brunch at Frankie
When: Saturday, December 1 & Sunday, December 2 from 11am to 3pm
Where: 264 Grove Street
Frankie is making its Bottomless Brunch special an official weekend thing. $20 gets you all-you-can-drink Mimosas and Bloody Marys (2-hour limit). Come back on Sunday (1pm to 5pm) as Frankie debuts its new mocktail menu with drinks made with Rosebud CBD oil.

What: Lego Robotics Competition
When: Saturday, December 1 from 12pm to 3pm
Where: Liberty Science Center
The Liberty Science Center is hosting the area’s first Lego League Robotics competition. Watch as local robotics teams navigate their robots through the competition course.

What: Annual Tree Lighting & Victorian Yuletide Carolers Concert
When: Saturday, December 1 from 5pm to 6:30pm
Where: Harsimus Cemetery / 435 Newark Avenue
Ring in the holiday season with the Victorian Yuletide Carolers, who will be performing at the Harsimus Cemetery’s annual Christmas tree lighting. The kid-friendly event will also include a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

What: New Thread Quartet Concert
When: Saturday, December 1 from 7pm to 8:15pm
Where: St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church at 85 Wayne Street
The New Thread Quartet — which consists of four saxophonists — is hosting a free concert where they’ll play music by a variety of modern/living composers.

What: Pet Photos with Santa at LHS
When: Sunday, December 2 from 12pm to 3pm
Where: Liberty Humane Society at 235 Jersey City Blvd.
Pets, kids, and parents are welcome to swing by the Liberty Humane Society this afternoon for a photo shoot with Santa. A $20 donation gets you a glossy print to take home as well as a digital edited copy sent later in the week. Best of all, your donation helps the LHS to care for the city’s homeless dogs/cats.

What: Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker
When: Saturday, December 1 at 1pm & 7pm; Sunday, December 2 at 1pm
Where: Brookfield Place Winter Garden in Battery Park
Enjoy a 1-hour performance of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker as choreographed by long-time New York Theatre Ballet choreographer, Keith Michael. The free performances will take place at 1pm and at 7pm. (Only one performance on Sunday). No tickets are required at this first-come, first-served performance. (I’ve been attending this for the past few years and it’s an excellent show).
