Jersey City Pride Festival

Pride weekend is finally here! From Saturday’s highly anticipated Pride Fest along Newark Avenue to Sunday’s Tea Party at Dullboy — here’s everything that’s happening in Jersey City this weekend.

Friday Events

What: Yappy Hour at Frankie
When: Friday, August 23 from 5pm to 7pm
Where: 264 Grove Street
Looking for some Friday plans? Hiro & Wolf is hosting a pop-up at Frankie tonight. The pop-up will feature Hiro & Wolf’s colorful, handmade pet accessories. Plus, there will be drink specials, doggie photo opps, and giveaways. Even better, a percentage of proceeds will benefit the Liberty Humane Society.

What: Surf City Lobster Palooza
When: through Sunday, August 25
Where: 1 Marin Boulevard
This is your last weekend to enjoy Surf City’s Lobster Palooza Festival. The waterfront bar is offering 17 different lobster entrees ranging from Lobster Tacos to Lobster Quesadilla. The lobster party ends Sunday, August 25. (But stay tuned because Paella Fest starts next week).

What: Vogue Cafe: Live Performance & BYOB
When: Friday, August 23 from 4pm
Where: 177 York Street
Vogue Cafe is hosting its first event tonight with a musical performance by Tiphanie Doucet. There will be a special food menu just for the event and the cafe will also allow BYOB for tonight.

Soul Curry Hoboken

What: Malabar Night at Soul Curry
When: Friday, August 23 from 4pm
Where: 618 Washington Street (Hoboken)
Hoboken’s Soul Curry is celebrating the cuisine of southwest India with its first Malabar Night dinner. The special menu includes dishes like Malabar peppercorn rubbed chicken, crab cakes with pineapple corn salsa, and more. You can view the entire menu here and there’s also a prix fixe option for $24/pp.

Saturday Events

What: 19th Annual Jersey City Pride Festival
When: Saturday, August 24 from 1pm to 9pm
Where: Pedestrian Plaza (Grove to Jersey Ave)
The Jersey City Pride Festival is a celebration of love and diversity. The festival’s theme this year is “Honoring Our Past…Creating Our Future,” in recognition of the Stonewall 50 Commemoration and World Pride 2019. The all-day festival, which stretches along the Pedestrian Plaza from Grove to Jersey Avenue, runs from 1pm to 9pm with multiple after-parties at various bars and restaurants throughout downtown including The Pint and Six26.

What: JC Night Market at JSQ
When: Saturday, August 24 from 4pm to 10pm
Where: Journal Square Plaza
Jersey City Night Market is a free, outdoor market held twice a month through October 19. The kid- and pet-friendly event offers local eats, crafts by local vendors, and a bar area for adults. Vendors this Saturday include The Plant House, Empanada Papa, Island Love Cakes, and more.

Whealth Cafe

What: Dinner with Musicians at Whealth Cafe
When: Saturday, August 24 from 7pm to 10pm
Where: Whealth Cafe at Journal Squared/615 Pavonia Avenue
Get ready for another night of delicious eats at this month’s Dinner with Music event at the Whealth Cafe. The BYOB, 3-course dinner is $55/pp and includes wood fired ribeye steak, fire roasted summer veggies, and more.

What: Corgi Comedy Club
When: Saturday, August 24 from 7:30pm to 11pm
Where: 1 Distillery Drive
Corgi Spirits is hosting its first every comedy night headlined by Gordon Baker Bone (MTV, Gotham Live, Brooklyn’s 50 Funniest People). Doors open at 7:30pm (of course you can get there earlier and enjoy some cocktails) and the first stand-up starts promptly at 8pm. Tickets are $20/pp.

Sunday Events

What: 7th Annual Hard Grove 5K Run
When: Sunday, August 25 from 10am to 12pm
Where: 1 Audrey Zapp Drive
Get your running shoes ready. The 7th Annual Hard Grove 5K benefits the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. You can register and pick up your packet at 8:30am on race day. A post-race brunch and cash bar will be available at Hard Grove later that afternoon.

What: Dullboy Sunday Tea Party w/ Misunderstood Whiskey
When: Sunday, August 25 from 3pm to 6pm
Where: 364 Grove Street
Cocktail bar Dullboy is hosting its second Sunday Tea Party with Jersey City’s own Misunderstood Whiskey. The bar will serve its version of boozy English-style tea along with house-made punch and Dullboy-style bites. Admission is $45/pp (a party of at least two people is required to make reservations).
