Jump start your holiday shopping at this weekend’s Project Market or partake in Jersey City’s first hackathon — we present our top picks for what to see, eat, and do in Jersey City this weekend.

What: Whealth 5K Harborside Run/Walk
When: Saturday, December 3 at 10am
Where: Harborside Esplanade (by Henry’s on the Hudson)
Start the weekend with a gorgeous 5K run (or walk) along the Jersey City waterfront, led by avid runners David Trotta of Whealth and Jesse Barton of CKO Kickboxing. The casual run is open to all fitness levels and is followed by a quick cool down/meditation session and a healthy meal provided by Whealth. Tickets are $10 per person.

What: Project Market at City Hall
When: Saturday & Sunday from 11am to 6pm
Where: Behind City Hall
Kick off  your holiday shopping at Project: Market — a heated outdoor market/bazaar that spotlights the best local food, apparel, home decor, and jewelry vendors. Vendors include House of Gains, Koro Koro, Radical Wellness JC, Grandma Downtown, Waffle It & Co., Hazel Baby Store, and many more.

What: Sustainability Hackathon at &co
When: Saturday, December 3 from 8am to 8pm
Where: &co at 201 Montgomery Street (2nd floor)
This Saturday is Jersey City’s first Sustainability Hackathon. The all-day event challenges teams to make Jersey City a more sustainable place to work, play, and live. The winning project will receive a prize of $1,500 and second place will receive a free monthly membership to &co co-working space.

What: Harsimus Cemetery Tree Lighting
When: Saturday, December 3 from 2pm to 6pm
Where: Harsimus Cemetery at 435 Newark Avenue
This Saturday is the Harsimus Cemetery Tree Lighting ceremony. The event will include caroling and holiday wreath decorating for Jersey City veterans (from 2 to 4pm). At 4pm, there will be carolers and opportunities to take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Finally, the Harsimus Christmas tree will be lit up.

What: Santa at Loew’s Theater
When: Sunday, December 4 from 11am to 1pm
Where: Loew’s Theater at 54 Journal Square
Want to give your child’s Santa pics a unique spin? Santa will be on-hand at the Grand Lobby of the Loew’s Theater. Digital photos will cost $5 or they’re free if you bring a new, unopened toy for a needy child. Pets will also be allowed to pose with Santa from 12pm to 1pm. The event will be followed by a screening of It’s a Wonderful Life.

What: Pet Photos with Santa at Liberty Humane
When: Sunday, December 4 from 12pm to 3pm
Where: Liberty Humane at 235 Jersey City Blvd.
Give your pets a weekend treat by bringing them to the Liberty Humane Society’s Photos with Santa Party. Each photo will cost $10 and the proceeds will help the animals at the LHS.

What: Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker
When: Saturday, December 3 at 1pm & 7pm
Where: Brookfield Place Winter Garden in Battery Park
Enjoy a 1-hour performance of Tchaikovsky‘s The Nutcracker as choreographed by long-time New York Theatre Ballet choreographer, Keith Michael. The free performances will take place at 1pm and at 7pm.
