Friday Events

What: Golden Door Film Festival
When: Friday through Sunday
Where: various venues
The Golden Door Film Festival is an indie film festival celebrating movies, writers, directors, and actors based in Jersey City. There will be various movie screening throughout the weekend at various venue in Jersey City. You can check out the events/movie list here.

What: Harborside Fitness Week
When: Friday through Sunday
Where: Harborside Atrium
Fitness Week is coming to a close at Harborside, but there’s still time take advantage of a few free workouts. Classes scheduled for this weekend include yoga, Wildly Fit, and CKO Kickboxing.

What: PierFest at Exchange Place
When: Friday, September 20 from 6pm to 9pm
Where: J. Owen Grundy Pier
PierFest is a series of four Latin jazz concerts held at the J. Owen Grundy Pier at Exchange Place. The concerts are all free and start at 6pm. Tonight, the concert features Grammy-nominated flautist Itai Kriss and Latin jazz percussionist, Enildo Rasua “The Third Hand.”

Surf City Paella Festival

What: Surf City Final Weekend
When: Friday – Sunday
Where: 1 Marin Boulevard
Enjoy one last weekend of lobster rolls and waterfront views. This is Surf City’s last weekend before they close for the 2019 season. (Their final day for 2019 will be Sunday).

What: Art at Night at Zeppelin Hall
When: Friday, September 20 from 8pm to 1:30am
Where: 88 Liberty View Drive
Art at Night is a new series of events that showcases the work of one local artist. The event can include anything from a live mural painting to a movie screening. Tonight’s event — Les Bohémiens Bourgeois — is an homage to Expressionism, to the bizarre and other-worldly art inspired by Salvador Dali. Tickets start st $15 and include two drinks.

Saturday Events

What: Bucket & Bay Gelato-Making Class for Kids
When: Saturday, September 21 from 11am to 12pm
Where: 150 Bay Street
Drop off the kids at Bucket & Bay for a children only gelato-making workshop. The 1-hour class will have kids (ages 6 to 14) making their own batch of gelato. Tickets are $24 per child.

All About Downtown Food Festival

What: All About Downtown Food Festival
When: Saturday, September 21 from 12pm to 8pm
Where: Pedestrian Plaza
Jersey City’s biggest food festival is back celebrating its 9th year. Stretching from Grove to Coles, the All About Downtown Food Festival spotlights food vendors from New York and New Jersey. A few highlights include the debut of Milk & Cream Bar in Jersey City, a reggae party/garden from Left Bank, Ani Ramen freebies for their first 200 guests, and a cocktail garden by Mathews. Just make sure to get there early because the crowds and lines will most likely be insane once again.

What: Lokal Eatery & Bar Grand Opening
When: Saturday, September 21 from 5pm to 12am
Where: 2 Second Street
Lokal Jersey City officially opens to the public tonight. The 6,000 square-foot restaurant is located in the former Taphaus space and features a new look, new ownership, and completely redesigned food and dink menu that highlights local ingredients from the Garden State.

What: Pershing Field Flea Market & Park Festival
When: Sunday, September 22 from 10am to 5pm
Where: Pershing Field Park
The Riverview Neighborhood Association is throwing its first annual Pershing Field Flea Mark & Park Festival. The family-friendly event will feature food truck vendors, local artisans, and more.
