Summer is unofficially here and it’s shaping up to be a busy weekend in Jersey City. From the 12 annual JC Ward Tour to the return of the Jersey City Jazz Fest — here’s what’s happening in JC this weekend.

Thursday Events

What: Jersey City Jazz Nights 2023
When: Thursday & Friday
Where: throughout Jersey City
JC Jazz Nights is a 2-night opening party to the Jersey City Jazz Festival. Various events will take place Thursday night and Friday night throughout the city. Performances will include Típica 73 at White Eagle Hall, Kate Curran & Ron Affif Duo at The Junto, Tony Malaby Turnpike Trio at Nucky’s at Hudson Hound, and more.

What: Second Sets with Widely Grown at Fox & Crow
When: Thursday, June 1 from 8pm to 10pm
Where: 594 Palisade Avenue
Widely Grown will perform an hour of original music followed by a surprise set. Admission is $10/pp.

Friday Events

What: Movies on the Pier by Exchange Place Alliance
When: Friday, June 2 at sunset
Where: J. Owen Grundy Park
The Exchange Place Alliance is hosting another night of Movies on the Pier. This Friday you’ll be able to catch a free screening of DC League of Super Pets. The movie starts at sunset (around 7:30pm). Food and drink will be available for purchase.

What: Living Room Child & Me Floral Design
When: Saturday, June 3 from 10am to 12pm
Where: 277 Newark Avenue
Home goods store Living Room JC is hosting a floral design workshop for parents and children. All materials will be provided to create a bouquet with your little one. Admission is $65 for one parent and one child.

Belle Ame Cafe is hosting a live/free performance by Ian Kenselaar just outside its cafe.

Where: Sussex Street btwn Washington & Warren
The Historic Paulus Hook Association is hosting a Sussex Street Block Party complete with food, drinks, music, and a cupcake contest. (Submit your favorite cupcakes to win prizes).

What: 10th annual Jersey City Jazz Fest 2023
When: Saturday & Sunday
Where: Exchange Place Plaza
The Jersey City Jazz Festival returns with 30 free performances by the likes of Riverview Jazz All-Stars, Eric Wyatt Quartet, Akiko Tsuruga Quarter, and more. The performances will take place on three stages setup along the waterfront. The concerts are free to attend. Cash bar and food trucks will be available.

What: JC Night Market 2023
When: Saturday, June 3 from 3pm to 9pm
Where: 179 Montgomery Street (City Hall Ancillary Parking Lot)
Jersey City Night Market is back! The outdoor food festival will feature Argentinian wood fire BBQ from Master Asador, Japanese eats from Menya Jiro, Bolivian food truck Tunkas, Maine lobster rolls from Downeast Lobstah, and more. There will also be a food truck catering to Jersey City’s furry friends courtesy of WoofBowl.

What: J.M. Clifford at Fox & Crow
When: Saturday, June 3 from 8pm to 10pm
Where: 594 Palisade Avenue
New York based singer/songwriter and bluegrass musician J.M. Clifford will perform songs from On a Saturday Night, a record about loss, acceptance, and salvation. Admission is $10/pp.

What: 12th Annual Jersey City Ward Tour
When: Sunday, June 4 at 11am
Where: City Hall Plaza
Bike JC’s Jersey City Ward Tour is an annual bike ride that cycles through all six wards that make up Jersey City. The 15-mile ride begins at City Hall and ends at the Jersey City Jazz Festival at Exchange Place. Admission is $10/pp.

What: Movie Night at Dullboy
When: Sunday, June 4
Where: 364 Grove Street
Every Sunday night, Dullboy will be screening a movie in its patio. The movie will begin at 8pm. Make sure to give them a follow on Instagram to find out what movie they’ll show.
