Vegan-friendly cafe Tea NJ is looking to open a second shop outside of downtown.

The village-based cafe announced via its Instagram account that it’s looking at spots in Hoboken or the Heights. It will keep its current cafe, which is located at 262 Newark Avenue.

Tea NJ originally opened in Union City in 2012. Two years later the cafe moved and opened in downtown Jersey City. Since then, it’s become one of the few spots in Jersey City that caters to vegetarians and vegans offering some of the best veggie burgers and vegan pastries in the area.

In addition, it recently unveiled a new vegan burger menu with entrees like the Sloppy Teriyaki Burger, the In & Out Spicy Burger, and the JC Hottie. Like its namesake suggests, the shop also offers a variety of loose leaf teas, which range from South American guayusa to Japanese matcha.

Tea NJ rotates artwork from local artists and hosts open mic nights and poetry readings on a regular basis. The cafe just celebrated its 5-year anniversary last week.
