Frankie Jersey City

The coronavirus pandemic has led numerous restaurants in Jersey City to alter how they operate. As of late, a handful of restaurants are now offering limited groceries for sale inside their dining rooms.

Frankie, for instance, is now selling bottles of wine and pastries from New York’s Bourke Street Bakery. Meanwhile, Franklin Social has a mini grocery market where you can buy produce, meat, and even toilet paper.

Below, we’ve rounded up all of the restaurants (and cafes) currently offering mini markets — whether online or in-store. (Know of a restaurant-mini-market we left out? Let us know in the comments and we’ll add it to our list).

Plant Base (370 Pacific Avenue): Plant Base is a zero-waste market and vegan cafe. At the market you can stock up on produce, seeds/nuts, spices, and locally made drinks like Non Nocere Kombucha. Their food menu runs the gamut from vegan tacos to wraps and bowls. (Details)

Frankie (264 Grove Street): From croissants to natural wines, Frankie’s Bottle Shop & Provisions offers bread and pastries from New York’s Bourke Street Bakery, Modcup coffee, meat pies, and sausage rolls. They also offer a selection of natural wines and growler refills. The shop is open Fridays through Sundays from 12pm to 8pm. You can call in your order for pickup or shop in person (social distancing rules/masks apply). (Details)

Franklin Social (292 Barrow Street): In addition to its list of sandwiches, Franklin Social also has a wide array of groceries available for pickup. Their online market includes eggs/dairy, pantry items (pasta/sugar), fruits/veggies, proteins (chicken breasts, hamburgers), and paper goods/sanitizers. Curbside pickup is available 7 days a week from 12pm till 8pm. (Details)

Choc-o-Pain (locations vary): The French bakery is offering weekly “freezer sales” that focus mainly on frozen pastries (think croissants and cinnammon rolls), but also offer hard-to-find staples like flour, yeast, and baked bread. (Website)

Corto (507 Palisade Avenue): Corto’s homemade pastas are now available by the pound. They also offer DIY kits, which usually come with a pasta and protein. Sparkling and still water are also available for purchase. The restaurant is offering pickup or local delivery (to certain parts of Jersey City). (Website)

Pasta dal Cuore (527 Jersey Avenue): Pasta dal Cuore’s pasta counter has been offering fresh, homemade pastas since the store first opened. They’re offering free local delivery on certain days as well as in-store pickup. (Website)

Bucket & Bay (150 Bay Street): Bucket & Bay has been offering pantry items for awhile now. The list includes heirloom eggs, organic milk, loose leaf tea, ground pork, and organic butter. They’re also offering small and large pies that are baked daily in-house. (Website)

Short Grain (183 Montgomery Street): Sugar, pasta, avocados, and paper towels are just a few of the essentials you’ll find at neighborhood cafe Short Grain. The eatery just opened its new essentials shop, which you can shop in person at the cafe. (Details)

Bread & Salt (435 Palisade Avenue): The pizza restaurant offers a different mix of provisions each week (you buy online during the week and pickup your purchases at the restaurant on that Saturday). In the past, we’ve seen the restaurant offer pasta, bread, olive oil, cookies, and more. (Details)

Sam a.m. (112 Morris): The cafe is letting you book 15-minute appointments to shop its grocery store. You can’t see what’s available, but you can shoot them an e-mail or quick phone call to find out what’s available each week. (Website)
