NY Waterway service is coming to Newport.

After closing its Newport terminal in 2013, NY Waterway will restore service between midtown New York and Newport this summer. Newport’s new terminal is located at 30 River Court, along the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway.

“We are thrilled to revive the NY Waterway ferry service between Manhattan and Newport,” said Jeremy Farrell of Newport Associates Development Company.

In addition, Newport will offer residents discounted 1-way fares.  (We inquired about the discounts and fare costs, but final pricing has not yet been disclosed).

“The new ferry landing and expanded service routes will make commutes even easier and will help additional visitors experience all that Newport has to offer,” said NY Waterway President & Founder Arthur E. Imperatore.

Service from the new landing dock will be available 7 days a week.

NY Waterway’s Newport terminal closed in late 2013 due to deteriorating pier conditions. Since then, new luxury towers and businesses have moved into Newport including the Ellipse, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the soon-to-open Park & Shore, and the recently opened Battello.

The new service will give residents an alternative to the congested PATH trains.
