Metropolitan Opera is Offering Free Streams During Coronavirus Pandemic

Need something to lift your spirits? While many museums and cultural centers are shuttering their doors in an effort to halt the spread of COVID-19, the New York Metropolitan Opera is opening its doors. Its virtual doors, that is.

The Met Opera will stream encore presentations from its award-winning “Live in HD” series  on its website to audiences worldwide, reports Time Out New York. The streams will begin at 7:30pm each night on the company’s website and will be available for an additional 20 hours thereafter.

This week’s lineup includes:

  • Tuesday, March 17: Puccini’s La Boheme
  • Wednesday, March 18: Verdi’s Il Trovatore
  • Thursday, March 19: Verdi’s La Traviata
  • Friday, March 20: Donizetti’s La Fille du RĂ©giment
  • Saturday, March 21: Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor
  • Sunday, March 22: Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin
