The Liberty Science Center will remain closed through January 12 due to the dramatic spike in Covid-19 Jersey City cases.

“In light of the sharp rise in COVID-19 infections across the region, we at LSC have decided to close our doors to guests from December 24, 2021 through January 12, 2022,” reads a statement on the LSC homepage.

“We are sorry that we won’t see you at LSC during the holiday season, but the safety and health of our staff and guests remain our top priorities. In the meantime, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and check out our website for updates”

Covid-19 cases have skyrocketed throughout Jersey City these past few weeks. On December 22, the city recorded 383 new Covid-19 cases, which is the most it’s ever reported. Local politician such as Mayor Steven Fulop and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka have contracted the virus in recent days.

LSC joins a long list of other local businesses which have decided to temporarily close in light of Jersey City’s Covid surge.
