It turns out Jersey City has a lot more to offer than nightlife and restaurants.

Two recent polls have ranked Jersey City as one of the best cities to raise a family and launch a career.

Career services website, Zippia, combed through 831 of the country’s biggest cities looking at factors such as unemployment, population, age, and cost of living in order to determine which city in each of the country’s 50 states is best for young people starting their careers.

The website found that smaller, lower-profile cities offered the affordability and opportunity that bigger cities couldn’t afford. In the Garden State, Jersey City took the top spot. The median income in Jersey City was listed as $60,703.

In a separate poll conducted by WalletHub, Jersey City ranked #80 out of 182 of the best cities to raise a family.

WalletHub looked at 46 key metrics including the cost of housing, the quality of local school and health-care systems, and recreational activities.
