Opening a restaurant during the height of the pandemic might seem like a crazy proposition. However, three Jersey City restaurants managed to make it work and scored a spot on Yelp’s 2020 list of the top North Jersey restaurants.
Bobwhite Counter (opened in March), East Hana JC (opened in July), and Clove Garden of India (opened in March) have taken the top three spots in Yelp’s list.
Yelp’s annual list is created using a restaurant’s total volume and ratings of reviews from January through November. Whereas last year’s list had no downtown eateries, 2020’s list featured plenty of downtown locations. The only non-downtown spots in this year’s top 10 include Korai Kitchen, ITA Kitchen, Mordi’s, and Pinwheel Garden.
Absent from the list are two of our favorite 2020 spots — Emma’s and Alex Sazon.
