Enjoy a mezcal tasting at Riverview Wine or take in some shows during the return of the JC Fridays Art Festival. Here’s the best of what’s happening in Jersey City on this first week of September.

Paella Festival at Surf City (through Sep. 22)

Paella Fest is still running strong at Surf City. Feast on 10 different styles of paella including Lobster Paella, Vegetarian Paella, Calamari Paella, and a Fisherman Paella (topped with flounder/calamari/shrimp).

Final SummerFest Concert at LSP (Tuesday)

The last free SummerFest concert of the season is here. Tonight’s performance by Erich Cawalla & the Uptown Band (R&B/Swing Jazz) will be held at the U.S. Flag Plaza by the Park Office starting at 6:30pm.

Key Lime Pie Beer at Departed Soles (Wednesday)

Departed Soles is dropping a new beer tonight. “Keys to the Caribbean” is described as having a “honey, cracker, cinnamon, and sweetness on the nose, a light creamy body, and subtle key lime tartness that lingers on the palate.”

Mezcal Tasting at Riverview Wine (Thursday)

Curious about mezcal, but don’t know where to start? Riverview Wine is hosting a Derrumbes Mezcal Tasting tonight from 6pm to 8pm. You’ll taste mezcals from various regions of Mexico including Oaxaca, Michoacán, and Zacatecas.

Jazz Night at Corgi Spirits (Friday)

Start your weekend with some live jazz and smooth cocktails at Corgi Spirits. The Anthony Fuscaldo Trio will perform live at the tasting room tonight. Admission is free.

JC Fridays Art Festival (Friday – Sunday)

JC Fridays is a city-wide arts festival held at various venues throughout Jersey City. Events lined up for this weekend include a wine tasting/art exhibit at Riverview Wine, horror/short story readings at Village West Gallery, and more. You can check out all of the events here.

Cans for Cancer at Lucky’s (Friday)

The Brooklyn Brewery and Lucky 7’s are teaming up to fight cancer. Starting at 8 PM you can enjoy $4 cans of Brooklyn Lager, Defender IPA, Bel Air Sour, and Pilsner all while raising money to help families battle cancer. All proceeds will benefit the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Midnight Market “Pregame” at Rooftop at Exchange Place (Friday)

Midnight Market’s fall season starts on Friday, September 13. To celebrate the new season, they’re hosting a dance party at the Rooftop at Exchange. Online registration is closed, but you can still attend the free event, which runs from 8pm to 12am.

Baby Goat Yoga & Calf Fundraising Event at Harborside (Saturday)

Spend your Saturday morning feeding, petting, and doing yoga with rescued baby goats. The fundraising event benefits rescued baby goats — which are up for adoption — and includes a choice of activities. You can opt for Rescued Baby Goat Yoga, Goat Snuggles & Calf Cuddles, or Bottle Feeding & Goat Back Massages. 1-hour sessions begin at 10am and 11:30am. Jersey City Seafood Fest (Saturday)

The Jersey City Seafood Fest is back for its second consecutive year. Head to the Urby Parking Lot (200 Greene Street) for a mix of seafood dishes including a seafood boil, lobster rolls, shrimp empanadas, Japanese style octopus balls, and more. Admission is $5/pp (kids enter free).
