From Square 1’s anniversary bash to a Prohibition Era jazz party at Corgi Spirits, here are the best events happening in or around Jersey City this week.

Tree Lighting Ceremony at Newport (Monday)
Due to last week’s rain, the 16th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will kick off tonight at Town Square Place. Guests will be able to take photographs with Santa, enjoy carols by the Definitely Dickens octet, and enjoy holiday-themed cookies and sweets.

Take in some art and cocktails at Talde (Monday)
Head to Talde for a night of live music, local art, and cocktails. Soul Series shines the spotlight on the work of local artists in an cocktail-hour type setting. Admission is $35 and includes one cocktail and passed hors d’oeuvres.

One-year anniversary party at Square 1 (Tuesday)
Today marks Square 1’s one-year anniversary and the neighborhood eatery is celebrating with a tree lighting ceremony held in its backyard. Bring an ornament to decorate the tree, contribute to their food/clothing drive, and enjoy a free cup of hot apple cider or cocoa. After the ceremony, stay for Square 1’s birthday party (7pm to 9pm). Food will be provided and tickets are $45/pp (BYOB).

Wine and dine at Pasta dal Cuore (Tuesday)
Pasta dal Cuore and CoolVines have teamed up for a 6-course game meat menu paired with wines from northern Italy. Diners can purchase dinner + wine tickets ($113.50/pp) or contact the restaurant for a food-only ticket.

Holiday party at the Art House (Tuesday)
Don your ugliest holiday attire and head to The Art House for an Ugly Sweater Artist Meet & Greet. The free event is open to everyone and will include holiday caroling, spiked punch, photo ops, and more.

Prohibition Era Cocktail Party at Corgi Spirits (Thursday)
Sip on some Prohibition era cocktails, listen to some jazz, and dance the night away at the Jersey Art Exchange’s Jazz Party held at Corgi Spirits. Tickets are $45/pp ($50/pp at the door) and admission includes one cocktail and raffle ticket. All proceeds will benefit JAX’s afterschool art and technology programs.
