New Jersey’s first Artichoke Pizza is coming to Hoboken.

The pizza shop, which is expected to open in early 2019, will be located at 96 Hudson Street — a quick walk from the waterfront and the PATH Hoboken terminal.

“We’ve been searching for the perfect spot to open the first New Jersey Artichoke Pizza for about a year now, and now we’ve found it,” said Premal Shanghvi, who will operate the New Jersey franchises. “The Historic District has a hip vibe and nightlife scene that is a great fit for the brand, while also being a popular area for Hoboken families, corporate businesses, and commuters who travel into the city each day. We love that this spot has it all!”

Founded by cousins and best friends, Francis Garcia and Sal Basille, the first Artichoke Basille’s Pizza opened in New York on 14th Street back in 2008. Since then, the chain has expanded throughout New York.

Signature pies include the namesake Artichoke Pie (cream sauce, artichoke hearts, spinach, mozzarella, and pecorino romano) and the Crab Pie (crab sauce, panko-breaded Surimi crab meat, and fresh mozzarella). These will be offered alongside other pies like Margherita and Meatball.

The Hoboken shop is Artichoke’s first of five stores to open in the Garden State. There are plans to open in Jersey City, Newark, New Brunswick, and Princeton. Artichoke is the latest chain to come to New Jersey, following Curry Up Now’s expansion from California to the Garden State.
