Torta Truck is now open in the Heights. The Mexican eatery opened in late July at 413 Central Avenue, between South Street and Thorne Street.

The family-owned food truck originally started in Union City, NJ. This is their first brick-and-mortar store in Jersey City. Currently, Torta Truck’s menu offers a mix of tortas (sandwiches) and tacos. Tortas can be had birria style (with a side of consome), al pastor (where the meat is marinated in pineapple juice and Mexican spices), vegetarian, or Milanesa de pollo (breaded fried chicken). Tacos can be ordered birria or al pastor.

Other dishes include fiesta fries (with chorizo, salsa verde, sour cream, queso fresco, and topped with a sunny side egg) as well as seasonal dishes like birria ramen.

You can follow Torta Truck on Instagram for specials and updates. (While you’re in the area, we also recommend making a pit stop at Stack Creamery on 465 Central for some ice cream/dessert).
