Update March 16: Jersey City now has four confirmed cases.

Mayor Steven Fulop announced Sunday afternoon that a third Jersey City resident has tested positive for coronavirus. The 80-year old male lives in the Heights and has been in isolation. According to the mayor’s tweet, the resident has had “limited interaction” with other Jersey City residents, which means there should be no fear of the virus having spread.

One Heights resident and two downtown residents are the only known residents to test positive for the virus in Jersey City.

The mayor also announced that starting Monday, March 16, the city will do a daily Facebook Live briefing for residents using the city’s official Facebook page. The briefing will occur at 2pm each day. However, Monday’s briefing has been moved to 3pm in light of a separate state briefing that will occur at 2pm.
