What: Milk Sugar Love Grand Opening
When: Friday, June 14 from 11am to 9pm
Where: 394 Palisade Avenue
Milk Sugar Love’s Jersey City Heights location is celebrating its official grand opening today. The shop will be giving out free mini cones of ice cream till 9pm (or until supplies last).

What: Departed Soles 4th Distribution Anniversary
When: Friday, June 14 from 4pm
Where: 150 Bay Street
Jersey City brewery Departed Soles is celebrating its 4th distribution anniversary with a plethora of new releases. The brewery will have multiple new barrel aged and barrel fermented beers as well as a new gluten free beer. The festivities start at 4pm inside the tasting room.

What: Midnight Market Season Closer
When: Friday, June 14 from 6:30pm to 11:59am
Where: Harborside Atrium (210 Hudson Street)
The final Midnight Market of the season is here. (Until the fall). Come to the Harborside Atrium for your last chance to indulge in eats from Eemas Cuisine, El Lechon de Negron, Hold My Knots, Freetown Road Project, and more all under one roof. Tickets are $5/pp at the door if you get there from 6:30pm to 7:30pm or $10/pp general admission.

What: Movies in the Park – ET & Green Book
When: Friday, June 14
Where: Canco Park/ET @7:30pmĀ  & Hamilton Park/Green Book @sunset
Start your weekend with some free movies screenings at a park near you. Canco Park will be screening ET at 7:30pm. Meanwhile, head to Hamilton Park for a screening of Green Book.

Saturday Events

What: Liberty State Park Spring Photo Shoot
When: Saturday, June 15 from 10am to 8pm
Where: 1 Audrey Zapp Drive (Empty Sky Memorial)
NYC-based photography pop-up Shoott will be at Liberty State Park today offering free photo shoots for you, your kids, your family, or your pups. Sessions are free to book and last 30 minutes. You pay only for the shots you like/want. (Packages are available or you can pay $15/photo).

What: Run for Liberty 5K Race
When: Saturday, June 15 at 10am
Where: Liberty State Park
The inaugural Run for Liberty 5K race is a friendly run in support of The Friends of Liberty State Park, an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c) (3) dedicated to supporting Liberty State Park. There’s a 5K race at 10am and 1-mile fun run for kids at 9:30am. Registration ends at 8pm Friday and costs $25 for the 1-mile race or $35 for the 5K.

GP's restaurant at Hamilton Park Jersey City

What: Brunch at GP’s Restaurant
When: Saturday & Sunday from 11am to 3:30pm
Where: 236 Pavonia Avenue
After a test run last weekend, Hamilton Park restaurant GP’s is officially launching its new brunch menu this weekend. You can dine inside or al fresco and cocktail refills are only $1 during brunch.

What: JC Night Market at JSQ
When: Saturday, June 15 from 4pm to 10pm
Where: PATH Plaza at Journal Square
The Jersey City Night Market is back for another evening of local eats, drinks, and music. The free, outdoor market is held twice a month through October 19. The kid- and pet-friendly event will offer local eats, crafts by local vendors, and a bar area for adults. Plus, Jersey & Co. Gelato may debut a new boozy (?) gelato.

What: The Goonies & The Wizard of Oz at Loews Theatre
When: Saturday, June 15 from 6pm
Where: 54 Journal Square
The Loews is screening some classics this Saturday starting with the epic kids adventure, The Goonies at 6pm. Shortly after, you can catch a screening of the original The Wizard of Oz.

What: Plates for Parks at Van Vorst Park
When: Saturday, June 15 at 6pm
Where: Van Vorst Park (Montgomery & Jersey Ave)
Plates for Parks is a series of al fresco dinners held in public parks around Jersey City. The 2nd dinner will be held at Van Vorst Park with guest chef Colleen Christi Willett, co-owner of Bread & Spoon, Jersey City. Tickets to the BYOB, 3-course dinner are $40/pp. Proceeds will support the Jersey City Parks Coalition.

Sunday Events

Bucket & Bay Gelato in Jersey City

What: Bucket & Bay Gelato-Making Class for Kids
When: Sunday, June 16 from 11am to 12pm
Where: 150 Bay Street
Drop off the kids at Bucket & Bay for a children only gelato-making workshop. The 1-hour class will have kids (ages 6 to 14) making their own batch of gelato. Tickets are $24 per child.
