What: David Bowie Laser Shows
When: Friday, August 10 at 8pm
Where: Liberty Science Center
LSC is turning its Jennifer Chalsty Planetarium — the largest planetarium in the Western Hemisphere — into a giant rave session with its new musical laser shows. The first show will be held tonight to the music of David Bowie. Laser shows will run every Friday and Saturday night from August 10 through September 1. Tickets are $12 for adults.

What: Gelato Festival America
When: Saturday, August 11 & Sunday, August 12 from 12pm to 7pm
Where: Liberty State Park at Central Railroad Terminal
Gelato Festival is a competition that pits one gelato maker against another. You can learn about the gelato-making process, taste all the competing flavors, and vote for your favorites. Representing Jersey City at the fest will be Jersey & Co. Gelato with their Peach-Mango Calamansi gelato. Admission is $25/pp.

When: Saturday, August 11 & Sunday, August 12 from 11am to 7:30pm
Where: Fifteen 2nd Street (next to Lutze Biergarten)
New York’s Famous Food Market is back for another weekend in Jersey City. This weekend, the outdoor market will include Fatty Cakes, Ani Ramen, Casa Cubana, MozzArepas, Taste of Poland, No Forks Given, and more.

What: Ed & Mary’s Pride Block Party
When: Saturday, August 11 from 12pm to 6pm
Where: 174 Coles
Ed & Mary’s Bar & Grill is hosting its first Pride party and fundraiser to support Jersey City’s LGBTQ community. The event will feature food trucks (Cubano X-Press, Jerk-n-Grind), vintage clothing vendors (Porch Finds, Scout and Supply), drag performances, and more.

What: 4th Annual Indian Independence Day Parade
When: Saturday, August 11 from 4pm to 8:30pm
Where: City Hall Plaza at 280 Grove Street
The Indian Independence Day Parade features music, food, Bollywood hits, and children’s activities all rolled into one massive event. The festivities start at 4pm at City Hall Plaza.

What: Intrepid Gym Adventure Run
When: Saturday, August 11 from 4:30pm to 6:30pm
Where: Starts at 255 Brunswick Street
Downtown’s Intrepid Gym is hosting its very first Adventure Run. The rules are simple: start your “run” at the gym and move through a variety of checkpoints scattered throughout the city. At each checkpoint, you’ll pick up 3 raffle tickets and may have to perform a variety of challenges (think pushups, etc). Return to the gym with your tickets for the chance to win prizes. The more raffle tickets you get, the better your odds of winning. The run is free to participate and the event is followed by a party at the gym with food and beverages.

What: Pride with Your Pup at Corgi Spirits
When: Sunday, August 12 from 2pm to 8pm
Where: 1 Distillery Drive
Celebrate Pride Month with your pupper at Corgi Spirits’ special kick-off party. The event will include a doggy costume contest and special guests Kayt Hester (MC), DJ Gustavo, Evan Laurence, Lady Clover Honey, Geyby Aguilar, and Maria Kent.
