4th of July4th of July weekend is here and there’s a lot happening in Jersey City. From JC Night Market’s local food festival to the reopening of JSQ Lounge — here’s the best of what’s happening this holiday weekend.

Friday Events

What: JSQ Lounge reopens
When: July 2 at 11am
Where:
50 Journal Square
One of our favorite Jersey City bars is making a comeback this afternoon. The JSQ Lounge will reopen at 11am. Plus, there will be a free (ongoing) comedy show Friday nights at 8:30pm.

Saturday Events

What: Brunch Beats at Cafe Esme
When: Saturday, July 3 from 12pm to 2pm
Where: 485 Marin (entrance on 8th Street)
Cafe Esme is hosting its first Brunch Beats event. From 12pm to 2pm, the cafe will have a live DJ playing techno/house music.

What: Smorgasburg Jersey City
When: Saturday, July 3 from 11am to 6pm
Where: 195 Hudson
Smorgasburg is back at Harborside for another weekend of eats. The outdoor market will offer food from numerous vendors including Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria, D’Abruzzo, and Duck Season. New this weekend will be That Pasta Club offering fresh, homemade pasta. The market will operate every Saturday through October. Admission is free and there will be various outdoor dining options throughout Harborside.

What: Smorgasbar opens in former Lutze space
When: Saturday, July 3 from 12pm to 12am
Where: 3 Second Street
Smorgasbar is making its debut this weekend. The outdoor bar will offer wine, cocktails, and local brews. It’ll be dog friendly, kid friendly, and open on weekdays as well as weekends.

Sunday Events

What: 4th of July Brunch at Freetown Road Project
When: Sunday, July 4 from 12pm
Where: 640 Newark Avenue
Before you head out to see the fireworks, you’ll want to check out Freetown Road’s 4th of July brunch. There will be live music courtesy of The Young Picassos.

What: JC Night Market Food Festival
When: Sunday, July 4 from 12pm to 10pm
Where: Exchange Place Plaza
Midnight Market is back with its first event since lockdown. The JC Night Market Food Festival is an outdoor food market focusing on local, Jersey City-based eateries and businesses. The all-day market will include food from Eemas Cuisine, Mezcal Kitchen, The LoDge, La Coqueta, Milk & Cream Bar, and more. It’ll be followed by the fireworks show.

What: Jersey City 4th of July Fireworks
When: Sunday, July 4 at 9:30pm
Where: Exchange Place at Montgomery & Hudson
The fireworks show is back for 2021. Although there will be no musical performance, residents are invited to come to the waterfront and watch the Grucci fireworks show along the Hudson River.
