The first weekend of August is starting off with a bang. From the Bolivian Day Parade to debut of La Côte’s new brunch menu — here are our top picks for what to eat and do this weekend in Jersey City.

What: Bike JC Night Ride
When: Friday, August 3 at 8pm
Where: Grove Path Plaza
Join your fellow Jersey City cyclists on a casual nighttime bike ride to Greenville and points south. Riders are encouraged to wear lights or adorn their bikes with neon lighting. (If you’re interested, check their Facebook page for weather updates).

What: Jersey City Food Truck Festival at Urby
When: Friday, August 3 from 5pm to 11pm
Where: Urby Parking Lot at 200 Greene Street
Kick off your weekend with your favorite food trucks at the Jersey City Food Truck Festival. The event will include live music, games, and eats courtesy of Pizza Vita, Angry Archies, MozzArepas, Milk Sugar Love, House of Cupcakes, and more. Note that there is a $5/pp charge for admission (kids under 12 enter free).

When: Friday, August 2 from 10pm to 2am
Where: 340 Third Street

What: Disco Night at Frankie
When: Friday, August 3 at 10:30pm
Where: 264 Grove Street
Break out the vinyl and get ready to party. Tonight at 10:30pm Frankie is turning back the clock with 70s disco. Wine, dancing, and 70s vibes — what’s not to love?

What: 1st Annual Harborside Atrium Kids Fest
When: Saturday, August 4 from 10am to 2pm
Where: Harborside Atrium at 210 Hudson Street
Bring the kids (12 and under) to the inaugural Harborside Atrium Kids Fest. There will be treats from vendors including Baking Mama, activities for kids, contests, and more. Admission is free.

What: Brunch at La Côte
When: Saturday, August 4 from 11am to 4pm
Where: 199 Warren Street (corner of Warren & Morris)
Add a little French je ne sais quoi to your weekend at La Côte, which is debuting a new weekend brunch menu today. Brunch will be available from 11am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday. (Pictured is the herbed ricotta cheese, which may/may not be on their brunch menu, but we love anyways). Don’t forget — La Côte is BYOB.

What: Famous Food Market Harborside
When: Saturday, August 4 & Sunday, August 5 from 11am to 7:30pm
Where: Fifteen 2nd Street (next to Lutze Biergarten)
New York’s Famous Food Market is back for another weekend in Jersey City. This weekend, the outdoor market will include Fatty Cakes, Ani Ramen, Casa Cubana, MozzArepas, Taste of Poland, No Forks Given, and more.

What: The 15th Annual Bolivian Day Parade
When: Saturday, August 4 from 12pm to 7pm
Where: Starts at Brunswick & Montgomery and ends at City Hall
The Bolivian Day Parade is one of Jersey City’s most colorful parades (and a personal favorite). The costumes are fabulous, the dancing is contagious, and the entire parade is a celebration showing off Bolivia’s Spanish, Andean, and Native American culture. It ends with a food festival at City Hall that extends till 7pm.

What: Riverview Farmers Market Peach Pie Contest
When: Sunday, August 5 from 11am
Where: Riverview-Fisk Park at Palisade (Bowers & Griffith)
Show off your baking skills at the 7th Annual Perfect Peach Pie Contest at the Riverview Farmers Market. Entries will be accepted up until 11:30am on Sunday (amateur bakers only). There will be prizes for the top winners and attendees will get to sample the pies after the awards are announced at noon.
