Update: New Thanh Hoai has permanently closed. The restaurant was scheduled to close on June 1, but has decided to close a day early on May 31. You can visit their sister locations, Hello Saigon at 180 Bleecker Street in New York or Pho Tay Ho at 235186th Street in Brooklyn.
One of the best Jersey City restaurants for cheap and quick Vietnamese food will soon close its doors. Located at 234 10th Street, New Thanh Hoai has announced it will permanently close on Wednesday, June 1.
The restaurant offered an extensive menu with some of the best pho in town. Entrees included everything from grilled pork on vermicelli (pictured) to short rib noodle soup. Prices were also somewhat reasonable. A party of two could easily feast for less than $80, which is becoming increasingly hard to do in Jersey City these days.
New Thanh Hoai originally started as Nha Trang Place at 249 Newark Avenue. After Nha Trang Place closed, New Thanh Hoai opened in Hamilton Park with a larger seating capacity and full bar.
If you want to grab one last bowl of pho before the restaurant closes, your last day will be June 1. (We’re also fans of Saigon Bistro at 514 Central Avenue and Saigon Cafe at 188 Newark Avenue, although the latter is not open for indoor dining at the moment).
