Mayor proposes adding barriers to all protected bike lanes
Mayor Steven Fulop announced on Twitter that the city is in the process of buying jersey barriers to secure all of the city’s protected bike lanes. “Pricing is coming back now to make the change as we think it will be safer for the network + cheaper in long term,” tweeted Fulop. Jersey barriers are modular concrete (or sometimes plastic) barriers used to separate lanes of traffic.
We are in the process of buying jersey barriers for all of our protected bike lanes. We are planning on moving from flex posts to more substantial protection in 2022. New Latin American eatery opens in Newport Mall
Kura Sushi isn’t the only new eatery coming to Newport. El Jibarito is now open inside Newport Mall’s dining pavilion (third floor). The eatery specializes in Latin American food with an emphasis on Puerto Rican eats. On the sandwich front (from $7.50), you’ll find popular entrees like Cuban sandwiches and an Argentinean-inspired choripan (sausage sandwich topped with chimichurri). El Jibarito also offers a range of combo plates ($12.95). These include a main entree (such as pernil or half Peruvian-style chicken) along with your choice of two sides.
