The mayor’s office announced its Jersey City reopening plan, which is designed to help small businesses prepare for their relaunch.

- Now open: Milk and Cream Jersey City
“We want our businesses as prepared as possible when the governor allows business to resume statewide,” said Mayor Steven Fulop in an e-mail blast. As a result, the city will help local businesses prepare for their reopening. The Jersey City reopening plan calls for:
- The city will facilitate COVID-19 testing for any local business and all of its employees. Upon completion, the city will supply small businesses with a reopening package. The package will include PPE, hand sanitizer, face masks, and gloves for the company’s employees. “We want to ensure that everyone is comfortable going back to work and that business owners can communicate to their customers that they are taking safety measures when they reopen,” said Fulop. (Business owners can request testing via this form).

Jersey City reopening plan: Restaurants and sidewalk seating
Last week, Mayor Fulop signed an executive order allowing outdoor seating expansion for Jersey City restaurants. It’s likely that Governor Murphy will place restrictions on indoor dining, so the city wants to prepare for it by expanding outdoor seating for Jersey City restaurants.
“If a local business is interested in expanding outdoor seating they need to fill out this form and they can immediately begin once the governor allows restaurants to open,” said Fulop. If a restaurant wishes to use on-street parking spots for tables, the city will also facilitate their request. The city is waiving all outdoor seating fees.
