What you need to know for Monday, March 30:

1: Jersey City now has 334 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Mayor Steven Fulop also shared an interesting detail. “Of the 487 ppl we tested yesterday/this AM, 171 were positive. Remember these are people highly screened w/all symptoms matching (cough, fever, breathing issues etc) before being tested. 171 is many but still the majority of those that came to us whom believed that they have it — test negative. Why is this important? Not everyone is going to get it + there’s lots of reasons ppl are sick this time of yr. Stay calm/follow rules + we’ll be to normal sooner than u think.” —Fulop/Twitter

2: New Jersey currently has 13,386 (up from 11,124) positive COVID-19 cases with 161 deaths (up from 140) total. The counties with the most positive cases are:

  • Bergen County: 2,169 (up from 1,838)
  • Essex: 1,227 (up from 1,086)
  • Hudson: 974 (up from 771)
  • Middlesex: 938 (up from 808)
  • Union: 896 (up from 742)
  • Monmouth: 870 (up from 781)
  • info via New Jersey COVID-19 Dashboard (Note: Some counties are performing more tests than others, which could be contributing to the sharp increase in positive cases).

3: Local restaurants are being forced to suspend Grubhub deliveries due to glitches wherein Grubhub drivers mark food as picked up and delivered without ever picking up said deliveries. Bottom line: Order direct from restaurants when you can and if you feel comfortable doing an in-person pickup, go for it. —NJ.com

4: Ani Ramen will reopen in late April as a nonprofit serving Detroit style pizza and Thai rotisserie chicken. The two restaurant concepts — called Rock City Pizza and Bang Bang Chicken — will offer discounted meals and make it easy/inexpensive to donate meals to charities/first responders.
