Sad news for fans of Korean food. A year after debuting at 8 Erie Street, DoShe is now permanently closed.
The short-lived Korean BBQ restaurant has met the same fate as the former Bell + Gray and Carrino Provisions.
Jersey Digs reports that New York’s The Boil — a Cajun/Creole restaurant — could be moving into Doshe’s space.
The Boil currently has two locations in New York. One outpost is located at 17 Waverly Place in Greenwich Village and the other is located at 139 Chrystie Street in the Lowest East Side.
Its menu shares some similarities with Just Beclaws in that shellfish and crustaceans are ordered by the pound, boiled, mixed with your choice of Cajun heat, and then served in plastic bags alongside corn and veggies.
Here’s hoping the New Orleans hangout hits all the right notes at 8 Erie.
The rent on this space must be astronomical. Prices from all these previous attempt there have been thru the roof. It may the kinda of space only a Chain restaurant can withstand financially
Yeah, that would be my guess too. That begs the question — what chain (if any) would we want in JC. I wonder how Ruth’s Chris (which is opening in Newport) would’ve done in the DoShe space.
Honestly, “The Boil”??? Ewww.
