Dosa Spot opening soon in Newport Mall

A new Indian restaurant is opening inside Newport Mall. Located on the second floor (next to Verizon Wireless and opposite Auntie Anne’s Pretzels), Dosa Spot will specialize in dosas, which are crepes made with fermented rice and lentil batter. The eatery will offer over 10 different types of dosa including traditional/plain, masala, paneer, and veggie. Dosa Spot will also offer idli (steamed rice and lentil cakes), vada (savory donut-shaped fritters), and filter coffee. You can check out their full menu online.

Amazon looking for office space in Jersey City

HarborsideE-commerce giant Amazon is looking for office space in Jersey City. The retailer could be taking over 400,000-square feet of space at Harborside JC, according to a report by Bloomberg. Amazon has already started expanding into JC with its Whole Foods Jersey City outpost, which is scheduled to open in mid-2022.

Jersey City offers second round of COVID relief for small businesses

City officials recently announced another round of COVID relief for small businesses. The city will offer $1.5 million in COVID-19 Small Business Microenterprise Grants focusing on brick and mortar/mobile businesses with five employees or less. The City-funded program will provide upwards of $50,000 for business-related costs incurred throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible businesses include grocery stores, childcare facilities, food delivery, food trucks, beauty salons, drug stores, medical supplies, laundromats, and home health support. Applications can be filed November 8, 2021 through November 19, 2021 at www.jcedc.org.
