It’s a short week, but there’s no shortage of events. From a Tuscan Dinner at Prato to the start of the Jersey City Jazz Festival — here’s the best of what’s happening in Jersey City this last week of May. Plus, a few events to keep on your calendar for the weekend.
Drink and Draw at Frankie (Tuesday)
Create your next masterpiece at Frankie’s Drink & Draw — an evening of wine and painting held in Frankie’s 2nd floor private room. You’ll have to bring your own art supplies, but your $10 ticket includes a live model.
Cocktail Fundraiser at South House (Tuesday)
Dating app Bumble is hosting a Cocktail Happy Hour at South House that benefits Dress for Success, a non-profit that helps disadvantaged women and men by providing them with professional attire, a support network, and career development tools. Admission is free, but you must download the Bumble app and make a donation via the app’s Moves Making Impact feature.
Tuscan Dinner at Prato (Thursday)
Prato Bakery’s monthly Tuscan Dinner is back with a surprise menu of Tuscan food and wines — the latter provided by Madame Claude Wine. Cost for the dinner is $50/pp.
Jersey City Jazz Festival Opening Party (Friday)
The Jersey City Jazz Festival is the official start of outdoor festivals in Jersey City. The opening party takes place at J. Owen Grundy Park (the pier next to the Exchange Place PATH station). It’s a free event, but RSVPs are required and space is limited.
Weekend Events
The first weekend of June is packed with events. Here’s two you need to keep in mind.
Jersey City Night Market Premier (Saturday)
The team behind Midnight Market is debuting a new, free outdoor market in Journal Square Plaza this Saturday. Jersey City Night Market is your opportunity to try local foods, shop local arts and crafts, and enjoy some drinks al fresco.
10th Annual Jersey City Ward Tour (Sunday)
The Jersey City Ward Tour is a 15-mile cycling event (non-competitive) that crosses through all six of Jersey City’s wards. This year, the event will offer an optional 25-mile tour that will loop through parts of Bayonne and Hoboken. It’s free to ride, but a $5 suggested donation is appreciated. Registration is now open.
