It’s a short work week for many of us, but that doesn’t mean a shortage of events. From free spin classes to a rooftop Independence Day party at Exchange Place — here are our top picks for the first week of July.

CycleBar Jersey City Grand Opening (Monday)
Opening week continues at CycleBar Jersey City — Chilltown’s latest spin class studio. Classes are free through end of Thursday, July 5, so book your 45-minute sweat session while you can.

Free poké tacos at Pokay Bowl (Tuesday)
Did someone say taco Tuesday? To celebrate their 1-year anniversary, Pokay Bowl will give free poké tacos to their first 50 customers on Tuesday, July 3.

4th of July Cookout at Mathews (Tuesday)
Mathews is hosting its first ever Fourth of July Cookout with food specials that will be available through Sunday, July 8th. New dishes include Habanero Peach BBQ Ribs, Lobster Rock Shrimp Rolls, Kobe Chili Cheese Dogs, and more. You can check out the full menu here.

Rally at Newark Avenue (Tuesday)
Grassroots collective Jersey City Stands and the city of Hoboken are holding a Rally in Support of Immigrants at the Pedestrian Plaza today. The rally begins at 6pm.

Backyard BBQ at The Kitchen Step (Wednesday)
Before you head to the big fireworks show, stop by The Kitchen Step for a 4th of July Backyard BBQ featuring classic dishes like St. Louis-style ribs, burgers, fried chicken, corn bread, and more. The menu will be available from 11am to 6pm.

Freedom & Fireworks with Snoop Dogg (Wednesday)
The Doggfather himself, Snoop Dogg, will be headlining Jersey City’s 5th Annual Freedom & Fireworks Show tonight, which pretty much guarantees this will be a concert to remember. Snoop, pyrotechnics, food trucks, drinks — what else could you possibly need.

Rooftop at Exchange July 4th Party (Wednesday)
So maybe you don’t want to party with Snoop. The Rooftop at Exchange is hosting a July 4th Party (reservations required) complete with open bar (7pm to 10pm) and a live DJ. Tickets must be purchased online and prices start at $100/pp.

The return of Feel Good Fridays (Friday)
Technically, every Friday is a feel good Friday, but the first Friday of every month is the Artist & Maker Market Feel Good Friday at Grove Plaza. The open-air market includes local artisans and vendors, food, a live DJ, and more.
