There’s so much happening this week! From newly opened Miracle on Mercer to soon-to-open Sushi by Bou — here are the best local events for the week of December 9.

Miracle on Mercer Now Open

Get your holiday drinks on at Miracle on Mercer — now open at 292 Barrow. They’re open 7 days a week: 4pm to 2am (weekdays) and 11am to 2am (weekends).

Happy Hour at Amiya (Mondays to Fridays)

Newly opened (relocated) Amiya restaurant just kicked off a happy hour special that runs from 5pm to 7pm every weekday. Beers are $3.50, house wines $5, and select cocktails just $6.

BOGO Lobster Rolls at Hooked JC (every Tuesday in Dec.)

Hooked JC is at it again. Our favorite seafood restaurant is offering a buy one, get one free deal on lobster rolls every Tuesday this month. They’re open till 10pm on Tuesday and they’re also BYOB.

Pedestrian Mall Tree Lighting (Tuesday)

The Pedestrian Plaza goes into full holiday mode tonight as Mayor Steven Fulop kicks off the Annual Tree/Menorah Lighting on Newark Avenue. There will be activities for kids, S’mores hot cocoa by Busy Bee Organics, live music, and more.

Pianist Envy Opens at 100 York (Wednesday)

Pianist Envy is a new LGBTQ-friendly piano bar opening in what was formerly Los Dos. According to their Instagram account, doors open tonight.

A Christmas Carol (Wednesday through Dec. 22)

Reid Farrington’s take on Dickens’ A Christmas Carol opens tonight at the Art House. It’s described as a “live mash-up of nearly every movie version of A Christmas Carol ever made.” Tickets start at $18, although opening night tickets are $50 and include an  exclusive post-show mix-and-mingle.

80s Night at Mezcal Kitchen (Friday)

Relive the awesomeness of the 80s at Mezcal Kitchen’s 80s party. 80s costumes are encouraged and remember — Mezcal Kitchen is BYOB.

Sushi by Bou at Ani Ramen (Friday)

Let the timed omakase begin! Sushi by Bou opens tonight inside the speakeasy section of Ani Ramen. Their “Sushi for the People” is a preview party with free sushi and cocktails. Space is limited and entry isn’t guaranteed, but you can sign up here for your chance to get in. (You’ll be notified via e-mail on Friday if you won a spot).

Emo Night Karaoke at FM (Friday)

FM is hosting a night of emo karaoke complete with a live band. You can check out the 60+ song playlist via Spotify. It includes Death Cab for Cutie, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World, and more.
