Amazon wants to ensure no grinch spoils your Christmas.

The online retailer is teaming up with the Jersey City Police Department to stop potential thieves from stealing unattended packages from Jersey City residents.

Studies indicate that nearly one in 12 Americans are victims of porch thefts. As a result, the JCPD have installed doorbell cameras and planted fake Amazon boxes with GPS tracking across the city to catch holiday thieves.

The exact locations for the cameras and dummy boxes were picked using the city’s own crime statistics and data provided by Amazon. (Neither would comment on how many packages are reported stolen, however).

Amazon is providing the equipment free of charge and the JCPD are already working with Amazon to expand the program.
