A six-story building with 598 luxury rentals and 15,000 square feet of street-level retail space are being planned for Jersey City’s West Side neighborhood.

Located across the street from the West Side Avenue Light Rail station, the project will include a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom residences. It will feature 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor lifestyle amenities as well as 200 enclosed parking spaces and six electric car-charging stations.

“There’s a lot to be excited about in this area, and we look forward to presenting our vision for this property which draws on smartly-designed residences, amenities and services that meaningfully address the way people live today, and a price point that’s attractive for Jersey City,” said Art Johnson, managing member of 400 Claremont Urban Renewal LLC, the development group behind the project.

Easy transportation to and from New York will be one of the building’s main selling points. Residents will have direct access to the Light Rail, which connects to the PATH train and New York-bound ferry terminals. There will also be three residential shuttles that will travel to the PATH station every 12 minutes.

The building itself — which is designed by Marchetto Higgins Stieve Architects — will feature a hotel-style lobby, fitness center, golf simulator, bowling alley, landscaped rooftop with grilling areas, dog run, bike storage, and a community garden. It’ll also have three distinctive courtyards with a pool/cabana area, sports area, and yoga section.

Part of the building’s street-level retail will also include space for a new restaurant and cafe.

Construction on the project is expected to begin in the next few months.
