Summer is officially here and if you don’t own a house by the shore, we’ve got you covered. From the Jersey City Pride Festival to the All About Downtown Street Fair — these are the summer events you won’t want to miss.
Saturday/Sunday, June 24 & 25: June wouldn’t be the same without Project: Eats — the food fest that marks the official start of summer in downtown Jersey City. Located at City Hall Plaza (280 Grove), the outdoor street fair will include all of your favorite local food vendors like Eemas Cuisine, House of Gains, and Bucket & Bay, as well as new vendors/trucks like the Slow & Low Whiskey Wagon and vegetarian dishes from Salt + Seed.
Tuesday, July 4: You don’t have to cross the Hudson to catch a fireworks show. The 4th annual Freedom and Fireworks Show takes place in our own backyard at Liberty State Park. The party starts at 1pm and includes live music, food, drinks, rides, a beer garden by South House, and fireworks by Grucci.
Wednesday, July 19: Now in its 15th year, the 2017 Newport Beach Party & Concert is your chance to enjoy local eats, listen to live music, and take in Jersey City’s breathtaking views of New York as you relax in Newport’s urban beach. Best of all, you don’t have to be a Newport resident to enjoy the party.
Wednesday, August 9 – August 13: Go for the fried rice balls and stay for the zeppoles. La Festa Italiana is a Village tradition that dates back to 1902 when it launched as a street festival in honor of Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Rocco. Today, it’s a 5-day extravaganza that attracts people from all over New Jersey.
Sunday, August 20: The Jersey City Triathlon is your chance to show what you’re made of as you swim, bike, and run through the Jersey City waterfront. The triathlon features both a shorter Sprint course and a longer Olympic course.
Saturday, August 26: The 17th Annual Jersey City Pride Festival celebrates two things — love and diversity. Last year the festival, which stretches from the Pedestrian Plaza to Jersey Avenue, reached up to 10,000 attendees and this year that number is expected to go higher. The party runs from 12pm to 8pm with multiple after-parties at various bars and restaurants along the Pedestrian Plaza.
Saturday, September 16: The All About Downtown Street Fair is Jersey City’s premiere street and food fest sprawling from Grove Street to Coles Street. Now celebrating its 7th year, the fest includes vendors from New York and New Jersey selling food, jewelry, art, and more.
Sunday, September 17: Ready, set, run! The Newport Liberty Half Marathon takes you through downtown’s most iconic neighborhoods including Newport, SoHo West, Liberty State Park, Paulus Hook, and the waterfront. The USATF-certified course is the premier event for runners near and far.
