Jersey City’s LGBT Pride Festival is still a few days away — August 26 to be exact — but some Pride festivities will start as early as this Thursday. From Midnight Market’s kick-off party at the Liberty Science Center to the post-parade hangover brunch at FM, below we’ve highlighted some of August’s can’t-miss Pride events.
Thursday, August 17: LSC After Dark: Boardwalk Edition will be the official kickoff event for the 2017 Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival. The party will turn the LSC into a boardwalk-like experience complete with boardwalk eats and activities.
Thursday, August 17: Yelp is celebrating Pride week with the only way it knows how — with delicious eats, drinks, and specials at Red at Raval. The night will include $5 sangrias and 50% off tapas. An RSVP is required.
Saturday, August 19: Drink for a cause during the official Jersey Ciy Pride Bar Crawl. The tour will make stops at Atlas, LITM, Talde, and The Pint. There is a suggested $10 donation and all proceeds will benefit the Hudson Pride Connection Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit community-based organization located in Journal Square.
Saturday, August 19: Transmission will host the official JC Pride Opening Dance Party. The night will include two dance floors, two DJs, and, er, non-stop dancing.
Monday, August 21: Roman Nose is turning its Italian eatery into a social club during its 2nd Annual Pride Aperitivo Night. Although the restaurant is normally closed on Mondays, they’ll be open today with complimentary bites and an all-night happy hour.
Wednesday, August 23: If you’ve lived in JC for awhile, you probably remember Hard Grove’s epic Pride parties located on the sidewalk outside their Grove street restaurant. A Summer Night Under the Stars is Hard Grove’s Pride party 2.0 — held at their new location at 284 First street. There will be music, drinks, and food specials throughout the night.
Friday, August 25: It’s time to break out those bellbottoms and hippie dresses — DJ Dancing Tony and DJ Pastiche are throwing a 70s Disco Party at FM. Blondie? Diana Ross? The Bee Gees? Sign us up!
Saturday, August 26: It’s the event we’ve all been waiting for — the 17th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival is back celebrating the diversity of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities in Hudson County and the New York City metropolitan area. The festival will take place in the heart of downtown at the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza.
Saturday, August 19: Just because the festival is over doesn’t mean the party has ended. The official JC Pride After Party will be held at Transmission where you’ll have access to two dance floors and drink specials all night long.
Sunday, August 27: Cure that Pride Fest hangover with some good eats at FM’s After Pride Hangover Brunch. The brunch will include special guests, music, and of course, more drinks — because nothing cures a hangover like more sips.
