Monday: Breakfast and lunch at Harborside is about to get both tastier and healthier. The Whealth Cafe is debuting its new menu this week featuring new breakfast sandwiches like “The Annie” (egg whites, turkey sausage, and avocado smash on gluten-free toast) as well as a housemade granola. The cafe will also debut new take-home dinners sometime this week.
Tuesday: Krispy Kreme will open its first downtown location at the former PNC Bank space at 95 Columbus (at the base of the Pershing building). The donut shop will open at 5am.
Thursday: The Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) presents the first annual New Play Festival, a series of staged readings of new plays by local playwrights. All readings are held at the Merseles Studios in Jersey City and are free ($5 suggested donation). The New Play Festival runs through March 25.
Friday: Valentine’s Day isn’t just about candlelit dinners. Jersey City Ballroom is offering private Valentine’s Day classes complete with roses, cake, and wine. You can book your private dance class today for classes held from February 10 through the 14. Prices start at $80.
Friday: Van Hook Cheese will host a class on Friday covering everything you ever wanted to know about American cheeses. The class runs from 7pm to 8.30pm and costs $40/pp.
Friday: After a brief winter hiatus, Midnight Market is back for its third international street food festival. Held inside the Harborside Atrium, the food fest will include local favorites like House of Gains, Eemas Cuisine, and Garden Steaks alongside new vendors like Runa Peruvian Cuisine, Hold My Knots, and Brunch Street. Tickets are $5.50/pp or $10/pp to access the vendors an hour before the general public.
Saturday: Celebrate Valentine’s Day a few days early with this 3-hour food tour of Jersey City’s best dessert spots. Led by Jersey Girls Food Tours and Growing in Jersey City, the tour will include stops at Cool Vines (featuring Milk Sugar Love), Cocoa Bakery, Talde, and L’atelier du Chocolat. Tickets are $65/pp, pricing includes all beverage pairings.
