What: 55th Annual Puerto Rican Day Festival & Parade (via NJ.com)
When: Saturday, August 15th & Sunday, August 16th
Where: Festival will be held at J. Owen Grundy Park (Exchange Place Pier) | Parade starts at Lincoln Park and ends at City Hall on Grove Street.
This weekend-long celebration consists of two separate events. The festival takes place at J. Owen Grundy Park (the main pier outside the Exchange Place Path station) with live music, food, dancing, and drinks from 12pm till 9pm (on Saturday and Sunday). On Sunday, the parade kicks off at 12pm from 1 Lincoln Park and marches down to City Hall.

Where: Outside Holy Rosary Church (6th Street & Brunswick)
Celebrate the final two nights of the 112th La Festa Italiana, a food and music fest that’s become a staple in the heart of Jersey City’s Village neighborhood. (Definitely get the zeppoles!)

What: Indian Independence Day Festival (via Hudson County TV)
When: Saturday, August 15th from 3pm till 9pm
Where: Hamilton Park
Presented by PlayMusician and JCFamilies, the Jersey City Indian Independence Day Festival will feature music, food, vendors, Bollywood hits, and children’s activities throughout Hamilton Park. Plus, attendees will have the chance to win a roundtrip ticket to India, courtesy of Air India. The festival starts at 3pm and live music begins at 6pm. Among the parades sponsors are Jersey City Medical Center, ShopRite, and Air India.

What: Sawyer Smith Pig Roast (via Facebook)

Where: Courtyard of Schroeder Lofts (234 10th Street)
Presented by Sawyer Smith Residential Brokerage, this pig roast is open to all residents of Jersey City (not just residents of Schroeder Lofts). A $7 suggested donation will benefit the Hamilton Park Conservancy.

What: The Brightside Tavern Film Festival
When: Saturday, August 16th and Sunday, August 17th
Where: Brightside Tavern (141 Bright Street)
This 2-day film fest highlights shorts and indie films from local students and filmmakers. On Saturday, the festival will showcase the work of students based in or around Hudson County. On Sunday, audiences can enjoy movies by non-student indie filmmakers from around the world. Each night closes out with an awards ceremony. Tickets start at $9 and can be purchased here.
