Weekend News: Departed Soles Brewery Grand Opening, Columbus Day Parade

What: Harvest Festival 20015
When: Saturday, October 10th from 10am till 1pm
Where: City Hall Plaza
Presented by JC Families, the 2015 Harvest Festival is a family-friendly autumn festival with pumpkin decorations, a small petting zoo, face painting, and more. The event was recently relocated from Van Vorst Park to City Hall Plaza.

What: Hudson County History Tours
When: Saturday, October 10th from 11am till 1pm (Brennan Courthouse); Sunday, October 11th from 2pm till 4pm (Hoboken Historical Museum)
Where: Brennan Courthouse and Hoboken Historical Museum
Hudson County History Tours is offering history buffs two guided tours this weekend. The first tour (free) will visit the William J. Brennan Court House on 583 Newark Avenue and detail the courthouse’s architecture and history. The second tour ($10) will visit the Hoboken Historical Museum and talk about Hoboken’s presence in the 1954 film “On the Waterfront.”

What: Departed Soles Grand Opening
When: Saturday, October 10th from 12pm till 9pm
Where: 150 Bay Street (Off Marin Blvd)
Departed Soles is Jersey City’s first micro brewery and tasting room. Doors will open at noon and there will be an entire schedule of events (and beer) including an official ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Fulop. The tasting room will also be open on Sunday if you can’t make it to Saturday’s festivities.

What: Columbus Day Parade
When: Saturday, October 10th at 1pm
Where: From Dickinson High School to City Hall (via Newark Avenue)
The downtown Jersey City Columbus Day Parade is back for its 6th consecutive year. The procession will head down Newark Avenue from Dickinson High School at 1 pm and turn south on Jersey Avenue and then east on Christopher Columbus Drive before before wrapping up at City Hall.

What: 6th Borough Market
When: Sunday, October 11th from 11am till 5pm
Where: Behind City Hall on Montgomery and Marin Boulevard
The 6th Borough Market occurs every second and fourth Sunday of every month. The outdoor market features local food, crafts, and arts all in one festive block party. This is one of just two remaining markets before the season closes on October 25th.
