If today’s balmy weather isn’t making you crave ice cream, perhaps Jersey City’s new Ample Hills Creamery will. Plus, drink up for a cause at Würstbar and checkout the craft cocktails at Corgi Spirits. Here are your best bets for local fun this weekend.
Get your ice cream on at Ample Hills Creamery
Yeah, we know. Summer is over. But there’s no such thing as a bad season for ice cream. Starting at noon today Ample Hills Creamery will open its first New Jersey location at 200 Greene Street — at the base of the Urby building. If you’ve never had Ample Hills before, they specialize in small-batch, sustainable ice cream with over the top, decadent flavors. The Jersey City shop will have 16 flavors available, including a special Jersey City only flavor. You’ll want to get there early because the first 100 scoops are on the house. (200 Greene Street)
Shaken, stirred, or on the rocks
Jersey City’s first distillery is officially open for business. Whether you’re a gin lover, vodka drinker, or all-around fan of craft cocktails — Corgi Spirits is a must visit. Regular hours and full service started this past Wednesday, but this will be Corgi’s first weekend operating on normal hours. On Friday, Corgi Spirits will be open 5pm to 12am, Saturday from 2pm to 12am, and Sunday from 2pm to 10pm. So sit back on their leather couch, lift that pinky, and enjoy a nice martini or three.
