The week of September 12 will be a busy one for downtowners. Below we’ve highlighted a few events you won’t want to miss, starting with Tuesday’s Coffee With A Cop meet-up at the Pedestrian Mall and ending with the Newport Half Marathon on Sunday.
Tuesday: Coffee With A Cop
Coffee with a Cop is a new event designed to bring police officers and community members together — over coffee — to discuss issues and learn more about each other. Coffee and refreshements will be provided by the HDSID. The event runs from 7pm – 9pm.
Thursday: Barcade Fundraiser for the Embankment Coaltion
Barcade will host a fundraiser for the Embankment Preservation Coalition, an organization seeking to preserve the 6th Street Embankment. Barcade will donate $1 to the Coalition for every beer sold during business hours (12pm – 2am) on Thursday.
Saturday: All About Downtown Street Festival
Jersey City’s biggest food fest is back for its 6th year. A crows of over 40,000 is expected and the festival will feature more than 300 artist and artisan vendors, local shops and restaurants, 15 food trucks, 4 stages of music, and more.
Sunday: Newport Half Marathon
The Newport Half Marathon is downtown’s premier race taking runners through parts of downtown Jersey City, the waterfront, and Liberty State Park. A post-race celebration will be held at Newport Town Square with refreshments, music, and prizes. Registration ($50) ends Tuesday at 11.59pm. Race-day registration will be allowed on Sunday for $55.
