Dance your way into the weekend at the Jersey City Ballroom’s annual Halloween Costume Party. Open to beginners, experts, and everyone in between — the evening includes a dance class, costume contest, and refreshments.

What: Oktoberfest at the Zeppelin Hall Biergarten
When: through October 20
Where: 88 Liberty View Drive
Celebrate Oktoberfest Jersey City style at the Zeppelin Hall Biergarten. The biergarten has launched a German-inspired menu for the celebration with dishes such as Saurerkraut and Sausage Soup, Schweinebraten (roasted pork), and Schweinshaxe (roasted ham hock). Plus, there will be live German bands playing Saturday night.

What: Cathedral Arts Live Opening Show
When: Friday, October 18 from 6pm to 9pm
Where: Grace Church Van Vorst at 39 Erie
Cathedral Arts Live is a music series held at Jersey City’s Grace Church Van Vorst. The 2019/2020 season kicks off tonight with a performance by jazz drummer Winard Harper and singer/songwriter duo Visen. Tickets are $20 advanced; $25 at the door, or $40 for VIP passes.

What: Bucket & Bay Pie 66
When: begins Friday, October 18
Where: 150 Bay Street
Starting today, Bucket & Bay will begin serving homemade pies by the slice or whole at both its Jersey City and Hoboken cafes. You’ll still be able to get scoops and pints of your favorite gelato, but you’ll now be able to get them with a warm slice of pie!

What: Pitness in the Park

Where: Riverview Park
Pitness in the Park is a fundraiser and all-out celebration of all things pitbull. Win prizes, donate to help the doggos of New York Bully Crew, and meet adoptable pups in search of their forever home.

What: Newport Pumpkin Festival
When: Saturday, October 19 from 11am to 1pm
Where: Newport Green Park
Celebrate an early Halloween at Newport’s annual Pumpkin Festival. Everyone is invited for pumpkin decorating, face painting, tarot readings, and live music. A costume parade kicks off at noon followed by a “spooky storytime” at 12:30pm.

What: Jersey City Ties 3rd Annual Pub Crawl
When: Saturday, October 19 from 12pm to 6pm
Where: White Star at Warren
Jersey City Ties’ Annual Pub Crawl will kick off at White Star this Saturday afternoon. The crawl includes stops at Liberty Prime, Luna, and Gringo’s. Jersey City Ties is a group of Jersey City professionals looking to unite with other locals through service and social events. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 day of.

What: Waterfront Walking Art Tour
When: Saturday, October 19 from 1pm to 4pm
Where: Morris Canal Park
The Exchange Place Alliance is hosting a guided/walking tour of the murals/art along the Jersey City waterfront. (You can take a look at the route via the link above). The tour is free and includes stops along the Powerhouse, J. Owen Grundy Pier, and the Novado Gallery.

What: The Ghost of Uncle Joe’s Halloween Ball
When: Saturday, October 19 from 1pm to 3am
Where: Harsimus Cemetery at 435 Newark Avenue
The Ghost of Uncle Joe’s is an annual rock show/costume party held at the Harsimus Cemetery. Local musicians will perform covers from Coldplay, Foo Fighters, AC/DC, Paramore, and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Food and beer will be sold by local food trucks. After parties (with more cover bands) are slated for Lo-Fi, Pet Shop, and FM. Tickets are $15 at the gate.

What: Cake & Cocktails at Corgi Spirits
When: Saturday, October 19 from 5pm to 7pmm
Where: 1 Distillery Drive
What happens when you combine two of our favorite pastimes — you get a Cake & Cocktails event at Corgi Spirits. Head to the distillery to try out The Cake Pound’s new pound cakes, all while enjoying some Corgi cocktails.

What: Hip-Hop Brunch at Ohlala French Kitchen

Get ready for some old school beats. Ohlala French Kitchen is hosting an old school brunch at its cafe this afternoon. Enjoy a classic French brunch with bottomless champagne cocktails and old school hip-hop for $35/pp. Brunch runs from 11am to 3pm.
