What: Industrial Chic Art Exhibition
When: Friday, July 29 from 7pm – 11pm
Where: The Vito A. Lofts at 190 Christopher Columbus Drive
The newly renovated Vito A. Lofts (located at 190 Columbus Drive) will host its first art show Friday evening showcasing work that references the aesthetics of industry: metalic textures, gears and wires, and raw spaces. Local artists at the event will include Kayt Hester, Andrea McKenna, Catalina Aranguren, Jayne Freeman, and Shilpa Gowda, among others. Refreshments, wine, and exhibition space will be provided by Delforno Real Estate.

What: The Liberty Cup Drone Races at Liberty Science Center
When: Saturday, July 30 – Sunday, July 31
Where: Liberty Science Center
The drones have arrived! This weekend the Liberty Science Center and Yeah Drones will host the Liberty Cup, a race for pilots looking to qualify for the US National Drone Racing Championship. Participants will compete on Saturday with finalists going head-to-head on Sunday. Only eight will advance to the finals, which will be held August 5 though August 7 at Governor’s Island.

What: Lemonade & Cookies Fundraiser at Bambino Chef
When: Saturday, July 30 from 11am – 2pm
Where: Bambino Chef at 213 Newark Avenue
This Saturday is the 3rd Annual Lemonade & Cookies Stand at Bambino Chef. All proceeds raised from the event will benefit No Kid Hungry, a campaign that connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches their families how to cook healthy, affordable meals. All it takes is $1 to donate — and you get some refreshing lemonade to boot!

What: Harry Potter Midnight Book Release Party
When: Saturday, July 30 at 10pm
Where: WORD Bookstore at 123 Newark Avenue
WORD is celebrating the release of the 8th Harry Potter book with a midnight release party. Guests are encouraged to don their favorite Harry Potter costume as the event will include refreshments, a Harry Potter birthday cake, and of course, the book release, which happens at the stroke of midnight. Tickets cost $30 and include a copy of the book. Attendees can also bring one child for free per ticket.
