From a Kentucky Derby Fundraiser to the Newport 10K, there’s a lot going on in Jersey City this weekend — in addition to those Cinco de Mayo parties — and we’ve got the best events lined up for you below.
What: Newport 10K
When: Saturday, May 5 at 8:30am
Where: Newport Town Square
From the waterfront to Hamilton Park, the Newport 10K is your chance to run through downtown’s diverse neighborhoods. Online registration is closed, but you can still sign up in person the morning of the race (just make sure to arrive early and bring $40 cash for same-day registration). You can check out the course map here. I’ll be running the race for the third year — it’s truly a fun, scenic, well-organized race.

What: Surati Holi Hai 2018
When: Saturday, May 5 from 12pm to 8pm
Where: Exchange Place
Holi Hai is the Hindu festival of colors (or festival of love) signaling the victory of good over evil (spring over winter). For the 10th consecutive year, the Exchange Place waterfront will host Surati Holi Hai 2018. The family-friendly, all-day event will include food, cash bar, colors bar, dancing, and more.

What: Marketplace JC Vintage Bazaar Edition
When: Saturday, May 5 from 12pm to 5pm
Where: 136 Magnolia Avenue
Marketplace JC is hosting a special vintage edition of its outdoor market this weekend. That means all vendors will be showcasing vintage jewelry, clothing, and/or home decor. Bringing your pooch to the market? Be sure to stop by Fargo’s Dog Co., which will be selling Doggiatos for your puppers. One dollar from every Doggiato sold will be donated to the Liberty Humane Society.

What: Art 150 Exhibition
When: Saturday, May 5 & Sunday, May 6 from 12pm to 6pm
Where: 150 Bay Street
ART150 is a collective of over 20 artists living and working at 150 Bay Street. This weekend they will hold a public group art exhibition showcasing their work. the weekend of May 5th & 6th, 12:00-6:00 PM This is a free event.

What: Kentucky Derby & St. Jude’s Fundraiser
When: Saturday, May 5 from 4pm to 7pm
Where: 351 Grove Street
Mathews is holding a Kentucky Derby Showing and Fundraiser to benefit St. Jude’s Hospital in New York. Admission is $40/pp and includes drink specials and passed hors d’oeuvres. Plus, there will be a contest for best Kentucky Derby hat and best dressed couple.

What: Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure & After Party
When: Sunday, May 6 at 7am
Where: Liberty State Park | Freedom Way | Newport Centre Mall
The 2018 Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure takes place this Sunday in our very own Liberty State Park. Same-day registration starts at 7am and the race itself kicks off at 8am. There will also be a casual 5K walk at 4pm. After the walk, Newport Centre Mall is hosting the More Than Pink After Party in the mall’s Center Court from 12pm to 2pm. Attendees will enjoy refreshments, complimentary massages, beauty consultations, and health screenings courtesy of CarePoint Health. Retailers at the after party include Coach, Express and G by Guess. Exclusive offers include 30% off at Coach and 20% off your entire order from Johnny Rockets.

In addition to its recent facelift with outdoor seating, one of our favorite wine and cocktail bars is debuting its new brunch menu this Sunday. The menu is still under wraps, but we can’t wait to what cheesy goodness awaits.
